Wake Up Sid is my movie! Yeah I’m kinda possessive about this movie…its only and only mine! Ahhh people must be wondering why am I so obsessed with it? Well the reason is this movie actually highlights my whole life.
Wake Up Sid is an interesting movie that centralizes on a mischievous, and immature young man whose always believed that with family, he could not want for anything. Without a care in the world, he meets Aisha (she’s everything that he isn’t) and helps her to settle into the life of Mumbai. Failing his last year of college and his father wanting him to gain some responsibility and work in his company, Sid leaves home after a family dispute with only his clothes. With no money and no plan, he decides to see his friend Aisha. For the first time in his entire life, he realizes that things aren’t always given. At Aisha’s insistence, he decides to learn basic life skills and grow up. Great cast – Ranbir Kapoor, Kokona Sen Sharma, Anupam Kher, Supriya Pathak, Kainaz Motivala, and Rahul Khanna. Worthy! But in the end it was Ranbir Kapoor who stole the limelight. Love you Ranbir!!
Wake Up Sid is an outstanding piece of art where the movie has beautifully captured the true essence of life, youth, love, innocence and the realities of life. Konkona Sen and Ranbir Kapoor have truly out done themselves. The movie is perfect, from colors, photography to acting, from direction and editing to music and cinematography, it’s just all working and blending in so well together that till the end you can’t have enough of it.
Ranbir Kapoor stars as Sidarth Mehra, a Bombay twenty something who coasted through college and continues to lounge his way through post-university life. Sid may be slothful, but he always musters up the energy for his friends, including the new arrival in his life, pretty Aisha Bannerjee (Konkona Sen Sharma). While Sid is content with his lack of direction, Aisha is driven to become a writer. With Aisha in his life, will Sid grow tired of a life of parties and join Bombay’s workforce.
To my satisfaction, I make sure that I watch this movie at least once in a month! It simply makes me smile! Also consists of some great music. Lovely and inspirational tracks! Iktara is my favorite!
